Olympic hero and Made With Love founder Tom Daley has revealed a giant seven-meter handcrafted textile artwork celebrating Shaun the Sheep: The Beast of Mossy Bottom ahead of the film’s September 18 cinema release.
The Artwork: A seven-meter “Baa-Ewe Tapestry” inspired by the historic Bayeux Tapestry, depicting Shaun’s Halloween adventures in detailed embroidery.
Celebrity Touch: Tom Daley knitted a custom “Shaun the Sheep” mini sweater vest for the artwork’s final panel, alongside a matching “Tom the Human” jumper for himself.
Exhibition Details: On public display at London’s Natural History Museum (Darwin Centre West Wing) from September 9 to November 1, 2026.

A legendary British animated hero has received a woolly tribute fit for royalty. Olympic diving champion and knitwear designer Tom Daley officially unveiled the “Baa-Ewe Tapestry” at London’s Natural History Museum, giving fans an intricate preview of the upcoming Sky Original feature film Shaun the Sheep: The Beast of Mossy Bottom.
Measuring precisely seven meters—exactly one-tenth the length of the famous 11th-century Bayeux Tapestry—the bespoke textile piece took a team of 15 artisans over 180 hours to craft. Using classic embroidery techniques, the panel-by-panel masterpiece captures the stop-motion charm of Aardman Animations, chronicling the comedic Halloween chaos that awaits Shaun, Bitzer, and the Mossy Bottom Farm gang in their third feature-length outing.
The unveiling lands on the eve of the original Bayeux Tapestry’s historic exhibition opening at the British Museum. However, while the medieval original records the Norman Conquest, this contemporary spin trades battle scenes for farmyard antics.
Adding a personal flair to the project, Daley hand-knitted a tiny sweater vest embroidered with “Shaun the Sheep” into the tapestry’s grand finale. He arrived at the launch event wearing a matching human-sized jumper reading “Tom the Human.”
Reflecting on the unique partnership, Daley shared his enthusiasm for joining forces with the iconic character:
“I’m so thrilled to be involved in this amazing celebration of creativity, and I can’t wait for everyone to see the beautiful tapestry the team have put together. I’ve waited years for the opportunity to collaborate with Shaun the Sheep, so when he asked me to design him a bespoke piece of knitwear, I simply had to say yes!”
The Natural History Museum welcomed the installation as an exciting crossover of art, culture, and family entertainment. Dan Phelan, Director of Communications, Marketing, Digital and Publishing at the museum, highlighted the connection:

Visitors can view the Baa-Ewe Tapestry for free in the Natural History Museum’s Darwin Centre West Wing through November 1, 2026, before Shaun the Sheep: The Beast of Mossy Bottom makes its big-screen debut nationwide on September 18.
