After nearly a quarter of a century on late-night television, Jimmy Kimmel Live! is reportedly preparing to lower the curtain.
According to a report broke by Page Six, the long-running ABC talk show will draw to a close after its upcoming season, ending a historic 24-year broadcast run. Sources told the outlet that Kimmel’s contract—which operates on a year-to-year agreement—will not be extended past its current expiration in May 2027.
“His contract is not getting extended,” a source familiar with the situation told the New York Post’s Page Six.
However, ABC network representatives have disputed the report regarding the host’s exit. In a statement addressing the claim, an ABC spokesperson denied that Kimmel is stepping down, stating:
“[This] information is inaccurate – any reports about the future of the show at this point are purely speculative,” the spox said.
Kimmel first launched Jimmy Kimmel Live! on ABC in 2003, making him the longest-serving current host in American late-night television. Over his 23-season tenure, his run on a single late-night comedy-variety show ranks second only to Johnny Carson’s legendary 30-season stint on The Tonight Show.
Should the show conclude at the end of its next season in May 2027, it will mark the end of one of the defining eras in modern late-night TV history.
