You’ll find them all across the UK, but we dropped by the awesome Leicester restaurant during peak post-work hours and were immediately greeted by a buzzing, vibrant atmosphere. Colorful, fun, and alive with conversation, the restaurant sets a welcoming tone the moment you walk through the door. But while the upbeat décor and lively room get your attention, it’s the food, drink pairings, and flawless service that make you want to stay all night.

The Tamatanga Thali: A Masterclass in Indian Comfort Food

To get a true taste of what the kitchen can do, we opted for the iconic Tamatanga Thali—a traditional, beautifully presented feast that lets you sample multiple curries alongside rice, naan, poppadoms, and chutneys. It is outstanding value for money and comfortably one of the best ways to experience their menu.

We sampled four distinct curries:

• Nee-Ma’s Chicken Curry: Comfort food at its finest. Rich, deeply spiced, and tender, this dish feels like a cherished family recipe passed down through generations.

• Chicken Khurana: Loaded with bold flavors, perfectly cooked chicken, and a luscious sauce that demands to be scooped up with fresh bread.

• Keralan Lamb Curry: A standout for lamb lovers. The meat was melt-in-your-mouth tender, bathed in a fragrant, coconut-infused coastal spice blend with a gentle heat.

• Homestyle Chicken Curry: Simple, authentic, and packed with aromatic spices. It delivers that wholesome, cooked-from-scratch depth of flavor that many high-street Indian restaurants struggle to replicate.

Every dish on the Thali balanced spice, texture, and richness effortlessly—a true knockout lineup from start to finish. I don’t know how we found the room, but we also tried the signature fries, which are banging!

Cocktails & Drink Pairings: Clever Twist on Classics

A great meal deserves great drinks, and tamatanga’s bar menu is easily on par with its kitchen. What truly elevated our evening was the team’s knowledge; the staff seamlessly explained the flavor profiles of every dish and recommended ideal drink pairings to complement our curries.

Our drink line-up included:

• Mango & Chilli Mojito: Tropical sweetness meets a sharp jalapeno kick. It cuts through the rich curries beautifully.

• #hairofthedog: Bold, refreshing, and surprisingly easy-drinking—a clever cocktail with real personality.

• Amaretto Sour: Smooth, nutty, and perfectly balanced between sweet and tart.

• Old Fashioned: A classic done right. Rich, smooth, and expertly stirred with just the right hit of spirit and orange oils.

We cleansed our pallete with an authentic Indian lager, on tap.

Dessert: The Mind-Blowing Chocolate Naan

Just when we thought the meal couldn’t get any better, dessert arrived—and it completely stole the show.

We tried the brand new Chocolate Naan, a concept that sounds absurd on paper but turns out to be absolute genius. It’s a warm, fresh naan filled to the brim with rich, velvety chocolate cheesecake. Shouldn’t work, but it really, really does! The contrast of warm, doughy naan dough with the smooth, cool, chocolatey cheesecake center is nothing short of incredible. Do not leave without ordering one.

The Verdict: Exceptional Service & Unbeatable Value

What makes tamatanga truly special isn’t just the knockout food—it’s the whole package. The service was exceptional throughout the evening. The staff were warm, attentive, and genuinely passionate about the menu, guiding us through dishes and drinks with confidence.

Whether you’re grabbing a casual bite, unwinding after a long shift, or celebrating with friends, tamatanga delivers a fun, vibrant experience that proves exceptional Indian food doesn’t have to be formal to be extraordinary.

The Rating: 5/5

The Takeaway: Great energy, incredible value, elite service—and save room for the Chocolate Naan!

From big new dramas and returning favourites to celebrity interviews, live music and what’s coming next on the streaming services, there’s plenty more to discover over at WhereToWatch.tv.

The Celebrity Traitors will not launch this month, after all.

Richard Osman caused a stir this week, stating during a live edition of his The Rest Is Entertainment podcast that the show would start on Wednesday 23 September. But schedules confirmed by the BBC actually reveal this to be incorrect.

Share

Instead, the new series of Lee Mack’s sitcom Not Going Out will begin on 23 September. It’s a brand new, six part series, which means the BBC’s Wednesday night schdedules are not clear for The Celebrity Tratiors to start until the first week of November.

Whislt the alternative would be for The Celebrity Traitors to air on Thursdays and Fridays instead, it would be an unlikely move for the BBC to change the scheduling format that worked so well for them last year.

The first series of The Celebrity Traitors aired last October, with episodes being broadcast on Wednesdays and Thursdays. And unlike the civilian series, episodes were broadcast at 9pm, not 8pm.

Alternative reports have speculated that the series will launch on 8 October, however that would mean it’s going to be shown on Thursdays.

Eitehr way, it’s definitely the case that Richard Osman is wrong and has sent everybody into a frenzy based on false information.

What Are the Sexual Offence Charges Facing Actor Noel Clarke?

Breaking News: Actor and director Noel Clarke, best known for co-creating and starring in the hit Sky drama Bulletproof as well as his breakout role in Kidulthood, has been charged with six sexual offences following a Metropolitan Police investigation.

• The Charges: Two counts of sexual assault, three counts of voyeurism, and one count of exposure.

• Timeframe & Allegations: The alleged offences took place between 2007 and 2016 and involve five women.

• Court Appearance: Clarke, 50, is scheduled to make his first appearance at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on 21 October 2026.

• CPS Decision: The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) authorised the charges after receiving a file of evidence from detectives.

The CPS confirmed the decision on Wednesday after reviewing evidence gathered by Metropolitan Police detectives.

Addressing the decision, Bethan David, Deputy Chief Crown Prosecutor for CPS London, said in a statement quoted by the BBC:

“The Crown Prosecution Service has decided to prosecute Noel Clarke with two counts of sexual assault, three counts of voyeurism and one count of exposure.”

“This follows allegations made by five women in connection to sexual misconduct that took place between 2007 and 2016.”

“Our prosecutors have worked to establish that there is sufficient evidence to bring this case to court and that it is in the public interest to do so.”

“We have worked closely with the Metropolitan Police as they have carried out their investigation into the allegations.”

“The Crown Prosecution Service reminds everyone that proceedings are now active, and the defendant has the right to a fair trial. It is vital that there should be no reporting, commentary or sharing of information online which could in any way prejudice these proceedings.”

Beyond his leading television role in Sky’s Bulletproof, Clarke established himself as a major figure in British film and television, winning a BAFTA Orange Rising Star Award in 2009 following his work on Kidulthood and Adulthood.

ITV dropped drama Viewpoint after the allegations are originally made.

Legal proceedings are officially active, with Clarke due to appear in court next month on 21 October.

Netflix has officially released the first trailer for The Mosquito Bowl, an upcoming World War II feature film that chronicles the gripping true story of four collegiate football icons who abandoned gridiron stardom to enlist in the U.S. Marine Corps following the attack on Pearl Harbor.

Share

• Star-Studded Lead Cast: Features Nicholas Galitzine as John McLaughry, Alexander Skarsgård as Bob Bauman, Julian Nicholson as Tony Butkovich, and Ty Francis as David Schreiner.

• The Premise: Based on remarkable true events, the film details four elite college athletes who leave their athletic fame behind, only to be thrust from their youth directly into the brutal realities of Pacific war combat.

• Core Themes: Beyond the battlefield action, the drama explores the profound cost of war, duty, and the unbreakable bond of brotherhood forged in hardship.

The teaser footage offers a stark, emotionally charged look at four young men whose athletic futures seemed completely mapped out before global tragedy intervened.

Beginning with the shock of Pearl Harbor, the narrative follows John McLaughry (Nicholas Galitzine), Bob Bauman (Alexander Skarsgård), Tony Butkovich (Julian Nicholson), and David Schreiner (Ty Francis) as they make the fateful choice to trade their team jerseys for Marine uniforms.

Rather than offering a sanitized sports drama, the trailer highlights a dramatic shift in tone as the idealism of collegiate athletics gives way to the bloody, unforgiving theater of WWII. As the four men navigate basic training and subsequent deployment, the bond they developed on the field becomes their ultimate survival mechanism.

ITV’s flagship annual television awards extravaganza suffered another slump in overnight viewers, recording an average audience of 2.3 million according to industry data reported by Broadcast.

Share

• ITV TV Awards: Averaged 2.3 million viewers (17.7% share), dipping below the 2025 rebound of 2.7 million and trailing the 2.3 million (17.7%) slot average, despite peaking at 2.5 million (24.5%) at 9:00 PM.

• BBC One: Celebrity MasterChef pulled in a steady 1.6 million viewers (16% share) in the same slot, well behind its typical 2.5 million benchmark.

• BBC Two: Episode four of Expectation’s six-part documentary Emergency 24/7 reached 790,000 viewers (8.1% share).

• Channel 4: The Jury: 14 and on Trial for Murder continued its run with 429,000 viewers (4.4% share).

• Channel 5: Drama series The Game dropped to 311,000 viewers (3.2% share), significantly underperforming against the channel’s 1.2 million slot average.

The latest figures mark another ratings blow for ITV, which has been grappling with a string of high-profile broadcast flops in recent months, including underperforming launches for The Voice UK and Gary Lineker-fronted game show The Box.

While the awards extravaganza managed to win its 9:00 PM hour overall and captured almost a quarter of all active linear viewers at its peak, the broader trajectory remains a headache for network executives.

The ceremony had temporarily reversed a decade-long decline in 2025 when it bounced back to 2.7 million viewers (23% share) on a Wednesday evening in September. That brief uplift followed years of steadily shrinking linear audiences, which had hit a historic low of 2.4 million (22% share) in September 2024. The 2026 broadcast has now erased those gains, sliding back down to 2.3 million.

How the Rival Channels Performed

BBC One and BBC Two

BBC One provided the closest competition at 9:00 PM with Celebrity MasterChef, which delivered a reliable 1.6 million viewers (16% share). Although enough to secure second place across the main terrestrial channels, the cooking format sat comfortably below its usual 2.5 million (17.7%) slot benchmark. Over on BBC Two, episode four of Expectation’s emergency series Emergency 24/7 gathered 790,000 viewers (8.1% share), slightly down on the previous week’s 884,000 (9.7%).

Channel 4 and Channel 5

Channel 4’s courtroom experiment The Jury: 14 and on Trial for Murder logged 429,000 viewers (4.4% share) for its penultimate episode, falling short of its 1.1 million slot average.

Unusually for Channel 5, returning drama The Game continued to underperform. The third episode slipped from 350,000 (3.8%) to 311,000 viewers (3.2% share)—a fraction of Channel 5’s robust 1.2 million (8.6%) slot benchmark. Industry watchers suggest the rating drop may stem from Channel 5’s core audience preferring self-contained, one-off drama miniseries rather than serialized, returning storylines.

First-look images have been released for Paramount+’s major new adventure series Treasure Island, offering a glimpse into the gritty, high-stakes retelling of the legendary pirate saga.

Created for television by Robert Murphy (Vera, Shetland), the series follows young Jim Hawkins (Tom Sweet) and his fiercely determined mother, Bess (Hayley Atwell). After coming into possession of Captain Flint’s legendary treasure map, the pair are thrust into a brutal race across the Atlantic aboard the Hispaniola.

BAFTA-winning drama Code of Silence has officially begun filming its second series, with dailyedit.co.uk understanding that the hit thriller will make its highly anticipated return to screens in May 2027.

Share

• Release Date: dailyedit.co.uk understands Series 2 is slated for broadcast in May 2027 on ITV, ITVX, and STV Player.

• Lead Return: Rose Ayling-Ellis MBE reprises her acclaimed role as forensic lip-reader Alison Brooks, alongside executive producing the series.

• Returning & New Cast: Andrew Buchan, John Bishop, and Nathan Armarkwei Laryea return, joining high-profile new additions Jonah Hauer-King, Jo Joyner, and Emily Head.

• The New Plot: Set two years later, Alison is drawn into a high-stakes police surveillance operation investigating a dangerous money-laundering syndicate.

• Streaming Success: The announcement follows a blockbuster debut season that consolidated to 7.5 million viewers for its opening episode and generated over 20 million streams.

Cameras are officially rolling on the second installment of the hit ITV and BritBox drama Code of Silence, produced by Mammoth Screen. Following a triumphant first outing that bagged a BAFTA and drew over 20 million streams on ITVX, the six-part thriller returns with creator Catherine Moulton at the helm to explore crime, communication, and representation through its signature lens.

Series two jumps forward two years. Having completed her official police forensic lip-reading training, Alison Brooks (Rose Ayling-Ellis) is called in to assist DI James Marsh (Andrew Buchan) and his team on a complex surveillance operation. The investigation focuses on Ruby Dowling (played by newcomer Emily Head), a woman caught up in a sophisticated money-laundering network after illicit cash is discovered hidden in her car.

When Ruby becomes the victim of a brutal attack while out on bail, Alison’s specialized lip-reading skills become pivotal in decoding crucial CCTV footage. However, as hidden secrets surface, Alison finds her loyalties tested and her personal safety directly threatened as dangerous criminals close in.

Returning cast members alongside Ayling-Ellis and Buchan include John Bishop, Nathan Armarkwei Laryea, and Fifi Garfield. Joining the ensemble for the new run are Jonah Hauer-King (The Tattooist of Auschwitz), Jo Joyner (Ackley Bridge), Sophie McShera (Downton Abbey), John Hollingworth, Sasha Desouza-Willock, and Emily Head (The Inbetweeners).

Expressing her excitement about returning to the set, Rose Ayling-Ellis commented:

“I am so happy to be back on set with the brilliant cast and crew that made working on the first series such a delight and I’m looking forward to welcoming new members of the team too.”

Series creator Catherine Moulton echoed the enthusiasm for Alison’s evolving role within the police force, commenting:

“I’m thrilled to be bringing Alison back for a second series. Now she’s officially part of the police team she’s keen to make her mark. Faced with her first murder investigation, she struggles to balance her determination to uncover the killer with the limits of her new police role. But blurred boundaries lead to divided loyalties, and her detective’s instincts, combined with her unique skill as a lip reader and close attention to detail, tell her there’s so much more to this case than meets the eye.”

Mammoth’s Founder and Chief Creative Officer, Damien Timmer, added:

“This is a special show to work on, and it was a thrill to win a BAFTA for series 1. Audiences have really taken Rose and Alison to their hearts, and we have so many surprises we’re excited to share on series 2!”

Off-screen, the production continues its celebrated commitment to authentic representation, employing a diverse cast and crew that includes talent from the Deaf, disabled, and neurodiverse communities.

Behind the camera, Joseph Shrubb returns as producer, with Meenu Gaur directing episodes one to three and Nirpal Bhogal directing episodes four to six. The writing team includes Genevieve Barr, Melissa Bubnic, Kevin Rundle, and Nicola Wilson working alongside Moulton.

With production now underway, fans can look forward to the return of one of Britain’s most celebrated recent thrillers when Series 2 lands in spring 2027.

Series 1 is available to stream on ITVX and Britbox.

As development quietly builds around a revamped The X Factor, television execs are exploring a fresh lineup of contenders to lead the format into a new era, with an emphasis on stars who effortlessly cross over between radio, social media, and main-channel TV.

• Main Stage Contenders: Capital Breakfast frontman Jordan North, TV and radio favorite Vick Hope, podcasting sensation GK Barry, and Kiss FM presenter Tyler West are among the prime names being discussed as potential fits for the main hosting role.

• Social & Broadcast Crossover: Bosses are deliberately looking toward talent who have built massive followings across podcasts, TikTok, and radio before translating that success to prime-time television.

• Visualised Podcast Companion: Development plans include a companion visualised podcast to run alongside the main show, with creators like Sam Darlaston, Chloe Burrows, and Jeremiah Asiamah tipped as strong candidates to front the digital spin-off.

• The Veteran Angle: Long-time former host Dermot O’Leary addressed his own history with the show on Good Morning Britain this week, where presenter Susanna Reid playfully teased whether he might be “too old” for a modernized iteration.

• Target Timeline: Production teams are targeting a potential return for the show as soon as next year, aiming for a heavily modernized, social-first approach.

Rather than sticking strictly to traditional television hosts, development discussions are focusing heavily on broadcasters who naturally bridge the gap between digital content and traditional Saturday night entertainment.

Exploration of Main Stage Hosts

Jordan North—who transitioned from BBC Radio 1 to take over Capital Breakfast alongside notable prime-time TV appearances—is widely seen as fitting the exact profile executives want.

Joining him on the list of potential contenders are figures like Vick Hope, Tyler West, and GK Barry. Each brings a blend of heavy digital engagement, podcast credibility, and live broadcast experience—key attributes for a format aiming to engage younger audiences who consume TV content across multiple screens.

A Dedicated Visualised Podcast

Recognizing how viewing habits have shifted, the proposed relaunch is expected to feature a companion visualised podcast designed to stream simultaneously across digital platforms.

This companion show would dig into backstage access, candidate reaction, and unfiltered commentary. Presenters like Sam Darlaston, former Love Island star turned media personality Chloe Burrows, and BBC Radio 1Xtra’s Jeremiah Asiamah are being viewed as ideal contenders to front this digital extension and keep online conversations moving throughout the week.

Passing the Torch

The shift toward a new era of hosting talent follows a lighthearted moment on Good Morning Britain earlier this week. Veteran presenter Dermot O’Leary was put on the spot by co-anchor Susanna Reid regarding whether he would ever return to front the franchise. Reid jokingly asked if he felt “too old” for a Gen-Z-leaning reboot.

While O’Leary took the teasing in stride, the conversation captured the broader sentiment surrounding the reboot: whenever The X Factor officially steps back into the spotlight, it is likely to be led by a new generation of presenters built for the multi-platform era.

The speculation surrounding the hosting role comes on the heels of a lively exchange on Good Morning Britain earlier this week. During an appearance on the morning show, veteran presenter Dermot O’Leary—who fronted The X Factor for over a decade—was put on the spot by anchor Susanna Reid. Reid quizzed O’Leary on whether he would ever step back into the iconic hosting studio, playfully teasing whether he might now be “too old” for the fast-paced, youth-focused relaunch.

While O’Leary laughed off the lighthearted ribbing, the exchange underscored the clear consensus within the industry: when The X Factor officially makes its high-stakes comeback, it will likely do so with a completely refreshed image, a new digital-first energy, and a brand-new face like Jordan North calling the shots across content fit for TV, socials and radio.

Once the undisputed titan of British television, EastEnders is facing a severe crisis of confidence. Viewers who once tuned in by the tens of millions are expressing rising anger across social media, venting their frustration over what many describe as a complete disconnect between show producers and the audience. Between sensationalized plotlines, high-profile cast departures, and a distinct lack of grounded character work, the BBC flagship soap appears to have lost its way.

Viewers across platforms like X (formerly Twitter), Reddit, and online soap forums are united in their criticism. Fan discussions are heavily focused on the bizarre direction of legacy icons, with widespread outrage directed at recent writing decisions. The backlash centers on several key creative missteps that have left long-time followers alienated.

Farcical Storylines and Rushed Pacing

The soap’s current pacing feels chaotic. Plotlines that once took months to breathe are now blown through in weeks. The decision to send legacy titan Ian Beale to prison over a drink-driving incident triggered immediate disbelief across social media, with viewers labeling the arc a total farce. Rather than treating long-standing characters with respect, legacy figures are tossed into absurd situations purely to generate short-term shock value.

Wasting Legacy Returns & Premature Exits

The return of iconic characters should be a milestone. Instead, returns feel like squandered opportunities. Michelle Ryan’s long-awaited comeback as Zoe Slater was met with huge fan excitement, only to immediately morph into a rushed exit storyline—with reports confirming her character is set to be killed off after barely a year back in Walford. Simultaneously, Max Branning’s current narrative arc has drawn continuous criticism on social media for feeling entirely out-of-character, forced, and nonsensical.

Mass Mass-Exits of High-Profile Talent

The revolving door at Elstree Studios has spun out of control, leaving the Square stripped of its core identity. Beyond Michelle Ryan’s exit, the show is losing major heavyweight talent. Long-serving mainstay Kellie Bright has announced her departure as Linda Carter after 13 years, triggering a domino effect that sees Charlie Suff bowing out as her on-screen son Johnny. With fan favorites like Aaron Thiara (Ravi Gulati) also quitting the soap, the loss of established figures leaves Albert Square feeling increasingly hollow.

Plunging Viewing Figures

While the BBC routinely points to iPlayer catch-up streams, the linear ratings paint a stark picture. Consolidated broadcast averages have suffered significant double-digit year-on-year drops, proving that casual linear viewers are changing the channel rather than staying hooked night after night.

How to Fix the Crisis in Walford

To rescue the show, producers must first slow down the narrative pace and return to slow-burn, character-driven storytelling that allows consequences to land naturally. The writing team needs to ground plots in deep character history, treating icons like Ian Beale, Kat Moon, and Sharon Watts with dignity rather than relying on cheap stunt plots and continuous cameos from past characters.

Furthermore, the show must invest in rebuilding core family units and signing long-term talent rather than relying on short-term return gimmicks, while re-evaluating the creative vision at the top to bring back writers who understand the working-class heart of E20.

Current Exec Producer Ben Wadey is riding on new family, the Hawkins’s to inject some new life into the show.

EastEnders has survived low points before, but fixing the current slump requires listening to its core audience. By stripping away the sensationalist twists, respecting character history, and slowing down the narrative, the show can regain its crown as essential British viewing…and perhaps win an NTA next year.

• The Artwork: A seven-meter “Baa-Ewe Tapestry” inspired by the historic Bayeux Tapestry, depicting Shaun’s Halloween adventures in detailed embroidery.

• Celebrity Touch: Tom Daley knitted a custom “Shaun the Sheep” mini sweater vest for the artwork’s final panel, alongside a matching “Tom the Human” jumper for himself.

• Exhibition Details: On public display at London’s Natural History Museum (Darwin Centre West Wing) from September 9 to November 1, 2026.

• Movie Premiere: Shaun the Sheep: The Beast of Mossy Bottom hits UK cinemas on September 18, 2026, produced by Aardman in partnership with Sky and STUDIOCANAL.

A legendary British animated hero has received a woolly tribute fit for royalty. Olympic diving champion and knitwear designer Tom Daley officially unveiled the “Baa-Ewe Tapestry” at London’s Natural History Museum, giving fans an intricate preview of the upcoming Sky Original feature film Shaun the Sheep: The Beast of Mossy Bottom.

Measuring precisely seven meters—exactly one-tenth the length of the famous 11th-century Bayeux Tapestry—the bespoke textile piece took a team of 15 artisans over 180 hours to craft. Using classic embroidery techniques, the panel-by-panel masterpiece captures the stop-motion charm of Aardman Animations, chronicling the comedic Halloween chaos that awaits Shaun, Bitzer, and the Mossy Bottom Farm gang in their third feature-length outing.

The unveiling lands on the eve of the original Bayeux Tapestry’s historic exhibition opening at the British Museum. However, while the medieval original records the Norman Conquest, this contemporary spin trades battle scenes for farmyard antics.

Adding a personal flair to the project, Daley hand-knitted a tiny sweater vest embroidered with “Shaun the Sheep” into the tapestry’s grand finale. He arrived at the launch event wearing a matching human-sized jumper reading “Tom the Human.”

Reflecting on the unique partnership, Daley shared his enthusiasm for joining forces with the iconic character:

“I’m so thrilled to be involved in this amazing celebration of creativity, and I can’t wait for everyone to see the beautiful tapestry the team have put together. I’ve waited years for the opportunity to collaborate with Shaun the Sheep, so when he asked me to design him a bespoke piece of knitwear, I simply had to say yes!”

The Natural History Museum welcomed the installation as an exciting crossover of art, culture, and family entertainment. Dan Phelan, Director of Communications, Marketing, Digital and Publishing at the museum, highlighted the connection:

“Inspired by our friends at the British Museum opening their Bayeux Tapestry exhibition, we’re delighted to welcome the Baa-Ewe Tapestry to the Natural History Museum. Shaun the Sheep has entertained generations of families and from today fans can enjoy a unique piece of textile art inspired by one of Britain’s best loved animations. We can’t wait to welcome visitors to see the tapestry up close and follow Shaun’s latest adventure ahead of the film’s release.”

Visitors can view the Baa-Ewe Tapestry for free in the Natural History Museum’s Darwin Centre West Wing through November 1, 2026, before Shaun the Sheep: The Beast of Mossy Bottom makes its big-screen debut nationwide on September 18.

• Signature Challenge: A dark and rich stout cake where bakers must balance bitter malt notes with a moist, delicate sponge.

• Technical Challenge: An artistic test of pure instinct, where bakers construct visually stunning treats using minimal instructions from the judges.

• Showstopper Challenge: A bold self-portrait cake requiring structural integrity, detailed sugarcraft, and expressive personal storytelling.

A brand-new era begins in the tent as culinary icon Nigella Lawson joins Paul Hollywood at the judging table, accompanied by host duo Noel Fielding and Alison Hammond. Together, they set a high bar right out of the gate with a Week One theme that challenges both traditional baking fundamentals and modern artistic flair.

The Signature task puts a spotlight on deep, complex flavors. Bakers are charged with mastering a stout cake—a bake popularized by Nigella’s famous chocolate Guinness recipe—where the key lies in highlighting the stout’s rich, roasted notes without compromising the cake’s lift or texture. Too heavy on the stout, and the sponge turns dense and soggy; too light, and the signature flavor is lost entirely.

Uncertainty reigns in the Technical challenge as the bakers face a surprise prompt stripped of step-by-step guidance. Success hinges on foundational baking knowledge, temperature control, and a steady hand for precise decorative finishing.

The weekend peaks with the Showstopper: a multi-layered self-portrait cake. The contestants must sculpt, paint, and build three-dimensional likenesses of themselves using sponge, buttercream, fondant, and edible paint. The challenge demands a structural miracle, forcing bakers to construct edible art that can stand tall without collapsing under its own weight—all while delivering top-tier flavor.

With high expectations from the new judging duo, Week One establishes who can handle the pressure under the white canvas of the tent—and who risks becoming the first to leave the competition.

Last week, dailyedit.co.uk was first to reveal the 2026 series will start on Tuesday 22 September.

Coach Ticket Sale: Thursday, 1 October at 18:00 BST.

General Admission Sale: Sunday, 4 October at 09:00 BST.

Festival Dates: June 23–27, 2027.

Glastonbury 2027 Ticket Sales Confirmed Alongside Historic Price Increase.

Following its traditional fallow year in 2026 to allow the land at Worthy Farm to recover, Glastonbury Festival is set to return in June 2027. Organisers have officially detailed the upcoming ticket sales process while revealing that passes for the iconic event will surpass the £400 threshold for the first time in festival history.

Standard weekend passes for the five-day event will cost £408, which includes a £5 booking fee. This marks a £29.50 rise from the £378.50 charged during the 2025 edition.

Key Dates for Glastonbury 2027 Tickets

Organisers announced via official channels that ticket packages including coach travel will go live at 18:00 BST on Thursday, 1 October. Standard general admission tickets will subsequently go on sale at 09:00 BST on Sunday, 4 October.

Due to intense demand, tickets routinely sell out in under an hour. To combat ticket scalping, all prospective buyers must complete a free online registration process prior to the sale. Registration details, including uploaded photos and unique ID numbers, are strictly required to enter the automated virtual queue on sale days.

Rising Costs Across the UK Live Music Sector

The £408 price point highlights a broader trend of rising costs throughout the live music industry. Analysis of UK festival pricing shows consistent above-inflation increases across major music events over the past decade.

While Glastonbury’s entry cost has risen by approximately 30% over recent years, other major events—such as Parklife and Download Festival—have seen similar or steeper upward trajectories due to rising operational, security, and production overheads.

Despite the price increase, demand is expected to remain extraordinarily high. While official headliners for the 2027 event have not yet been confirmed, speculation regarding top-tier acts is already building among music fans worldwide.
